Denisse Córdova Carrizales

Hola! I graduated from Harvard College with a BA in physics in May 2023.  I'm now a first-year PhD student at MIT's Nuclear Science and Engineering Department in the Quantum Measurement Group. I work on synthesizing and characterizing sustainable quantum materials.

I'm interested in lowering microelectronics’ carbon emissions through experimental quantum materials research. I grew up in an under-resourced and predominantly immigrant community in Houston, TX, and I deeply understand how intricately access to energy is tied to someone's quality of life.

I've worked in the Mundy Group at Harvard University synthesizing and characterizing transparent superconductors. And I've also worked at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Commonwealth Fusion Systems, VEIR, and the Etscorn Observatory.

Aside from my scientific interests, I'm interested in digital science communication, entrepreneurship, advocacy for nonproliferation of nuclear weapons, and energy justice. Please reach out with any opportunities or questions!
